The Wills, Estates and Succession Planning Team that other lawyers recommend

Estate administration routinely involves dealing with:

  • Should you get probate, and what does it mean anyway?
  • What do you do if there is no will?
  • How do you know if the will is valid?
  • How do you handle superannuation and life insurance entitlements without suffering a huge tax penalty?
  • Is a claim upon the estate by a disgruntled family member likely, and what should be done about it?
  • When is it safe to pay out the funds to the beneficiaries, and when does the executor risk a personal claim?
  • What do you do about creditors of the estate in Gold Coast?
  • How do you handle partly completed matrimonial proceedings of the deceased?
  • How should the business of the deceased be dealt with?
  • Who do you contact to transfer the house?
  • What does Joint Tenancy really mean?
  • What do you do if the will gives away property that the deceased doesn’t own?
  • How do you handle a Family Trust when the principal dies?

Expert Gold Coast Wills and Estate Planning Solicitors

Wills

Your will is one of the most important documents you will ever sign. It is not something to put off doing, and not something you can do once, then forget.

Without a valid will, you forego your right to:

  • Nominate guardians for your minor children in the event of your death.
  • Determine the respective interests your loved ones receive from your estate.
  • Decide who will be responsible for administering your estate in accordance with your wishes, as well as dealing with any conflict that arise.
  • Provide your beneficiaries with options to minimise tax, protect their inheritance from creditors and/or a family law dispute.
  • Ensure your will is consistent with your superannuation, life insurance, business structures and any family trusts.
  • Provide a structure for children, spouses or other dependants which mitigate the impact an inheritance may have on their social security payments.

The entire process costs just $660 for a simple will, or $770 for two (done at the same time in mirror terms).

Of course, we can help with more complex cases too – just ask our friendly lawyer on the day, and they will be happy to give you a quote.

Powers of Attorney

Powers of Attorney are extremely useful- and very, very powerful. They allow someone else to do things for you – from small assistance like paying your bills, to very large transactions – like selling your house.

Before signing a power of attorney document, and before accepting appointment as an attorney, it is very important that you understand the true ramifications and legal limits on how a Power of Attorney works.

We Advise and Prepare Powers of Attorney for simple, fixed prices:

  • $550 for one person (prepare, explain and sign);
  • $660 for two people (done at the same time).
  • $440 for explain only.
  • We can also prepare a Revocation of Power of Attorney – With new EPOA $220, singly $550
